I was turned on to this site by a collegue who is looking for housing. He knew I lived at HC and told me to check out the comments by all the uneducated, angry, pettty, haters...some of which, inexplicably, still reside there.

Yeah, I was only there for a year. I only left because I bought a house. If that hadn't happened, I would have stayed until whenever. For all the people who are so torn up about how bad it is there, break your lease. Or do you need something to complain about for the next year'

Sorry kids, but I've got to address all the comments on the manager. She wasn't my best friend, I'm not saying she's a rocket scientist or anything...but guess what' She doesn't NEED to be. It's an apartment complex in Middletown, not a private community in Cos Cob. Consider that her managers, the people who own the place, give the HC office staff s--- for support. I, personally, never experienced her as uncaring or rude. I never got any "gossip" from her. Have any of you ever heard of projection' Take those dusty-a-- dictionaries off their shelves and look it up. Consider that if you are bitter enough to write about someone's acne, you might have some of your own issues with being uncaring, rude, and gossipy. BTW, I was under the impression that people who read these reviews want information, not word wars between mental giants like "anonymous" and "biginthepants".

Relevant info: Some of their buildings are newly renovated and, if you can swing it, it is soooo worth it to get a loft apartment with the roof-top deck. The grounds are nice, I always felt safe and, when I lived there, maintainence was very professional and friendly. There were problems with the washers/dryers being perpetually "repaired". Noise was sometimes a factor, especially if you are not on a top floor. Parking was usually not a problem, except on weekends when tenants had guests. Heating and cooling the apartments adequately can be very difficult and costly.

I had one serious mishap there and it was dealt with swifty by the manager everyone here is so quick to criticize. I saw one of the grounds-keepers (from an independent landscaping company) intentionally scrape the ever-loving s--- out of my then brand new car. He said he did it because my car was "in the way". I immediately went to the manager and within 48 hours I had a check in my hand to cover the damage, a letter of apology from the property owners and, the hedge-clipping car-wrecker lost his job. I was pretty satisfied with that.

All I can say to people who are considering looking at HC is just go check it out and make your own grown-up decision. I would seriously discount comments made on this site by the bottom-feeding haters.

If by "immigrant" you mean "minority" or (gasp) Mexican...you are wrong, sir. He was a white boy who admitted to intentionally scraping the car once he was caught out. Please, stop defending minorities, WE don't need your help. P.S. I'm Mexican. BTW, being called a b---- on an apartment review website really hurts...not.
