Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2006
We lived at Windsor Brooke Apartments for 4 years. The staff in the leasing office admitted to losing our rent check 3 times in that timeframe. Always get a receipt for the rent!
Also, the caliber of tenants went downhill over the years we lived there. When we first moved in, the complex was full of professionals, lately it seems to be taken over by people with broken down cars who like to have noisy parties at night.
Maintenance response was very fast for emergency problems, but slow for other "everyday" problems. Did not respond to our final request before move-out: to clean vomit off the landing from our neighbor's party the week before. I called daily for about 4 days and they never cleaned it. Disgusting.
They started charging tenants for water/sewer in 2004. They charge based on the size of your apartment, not your actual usage. We went away for an extended vacation one month and our water bill ended up being HIGHER than in the months we were living in the apt full time.
The mailman is terrible, he was always cramming our mail into the box and he ruined several pieces of mail.
On the plus side, our apt overlooked the brook and waterfall at the back of the complex and was quiet and private (until the noisy neighbor moved in). The staff is friendly, but not very helpful. As long as you pay your rent on time, they dont bother you. The apartments have gas heat and are roomy with plenty of closet space. The leasing office accepts deliveries from UPS and FedEx if you are not home.
Overall, I recommend Middletown Brooke (formerly Windsor Brooke), because it is no better or worse than any of the other nearby complexes. We had no issues with extending our lease 2 weeks in order to coordinate our move-out with the closing on the house we purchased, and our security deposit was returned in full (with interest) promptly after move-out.
