First let me say this : Management is horrible! Make sure you get absolutely everything in wiritng and signed! Do not take anyone's word on anything.
My two roomates and I moved to Pebblebrook because of its close location to CCSU, which the three of us attend.
The staff was helpful and attentive until we signed our lease.
The first apartment they gave us was on the side of the complex facing the woods. The front door into the main building wouldn't lock properly. The apartment itself was significantly smaller than the model apartment (which we were assured was a 100curate representation of the units). There were water stains, the hall smelled of wet dog, and the apartment itself smelled mouldy. We went right back to management and told them we found the apartment to be unacceptable, and they told us to give our keys back.
A month later, and after taking $100 off our rent for the troubles, we were assigned to a new apartment which was better, but still not equal to what was presented to us.
We were then charged a month's rent for the time that had passed since we signed our first lease and our second. The management told us that we were still responsible for that first apartment and didn't have to give our keys back (even though we were told we did). They belittled us, and lied to our faces, denying things they had been told us in the past. (We strongly concidered taking the matter to small claims court but decided it wasn't worth the hastle of a legal battle)
Although a slight improvement, the new unit was dank and dirty. We were in a basement apartment in the H building (we could see Normandy heights from our window)and had constant water issues. The floor of the master bedroom was constantly soaked due to seepage from outside, and the plaster on the ceiling in our bathroom started to crumble and cave in. It took several calls to management and maintainence before someone came to even look at the problem, the ceiling was poorly patched with spackle, nothing was done to address the problems in the bedroom.
There seems to be ample parking, but after 5 it's incredibly difficult to get a spot near your unit. The parking lots are lit, but just barely, and provide no sense of security.
On more than one occasion snow was pushed up on all sides of my car when the drive was plowed and had to shovel myself out.
The walls were paper thin, we could hear every conversation from the three apartments we shared walls with.
Several times over the year the water was turned off for hours on end, during the most inconvenient times. I.E. the morning when tentants are preparing for work/school.
During the warmer months we had a significant ant problem, which, after several calls made to maintainence were left unanswered, we had to solve on our own with ant traps.
Every few months tenants were required to completely empty all their cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom so maintainence could come and spray, which consisted of a man coming in with a can of raid.
The place is not, and does not feel safe. Several police cars were called to the complex on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis.
Soon after we moved out, friends of ours who decided to stick it out for one more year (even after a significant increase in rent) encountered even more problems. One friend was even held at knife point and mugged as he left his apartment.
It was a horrible experience. The only good thing to come out of living at Pebblebrook, is I am now more weary of poor management and leasing practices.

you are such a liar, first of all 3 people cant live in a 2 bedroom. the bug guy puts some insecticide...not raid. if you want to write a bad review at least make it believable. of course you have to shovel yourself out. do you think that the complex is responsible for shoveling each individual car? get real. i live her and its not that bad. but what ruins it is you CCSU kids that dont respect that it is an apartment complex and home to people not a dorm for parties. |
