Keep shopping around!

I lived in Madison tower for a year. The apartment was spacious and Madison has the nicest doorman in the world. But, even though I'm sticking around New Haven for only one year I HAD to move out.

The Towers are fine if you never have to deal with the grimey leasing agents (they're super nice when luring/pressuring you to sign a lease, they do the good cop bad cop thing, and when an error is obvious they'll blame the other... so you might be thinking both or one of is ok. They're both grimey.) Or the property manager, who can't seem to do a thing without consulting the leasing agents. But if you do end up needing to deal with them... a fair probability since these are old buildings... you can end up with a huge headache on your hands. And money they haven't earned out of your pocket.

The post about the heat in winter and a.c. in summer is true... they are notoriously terrible about it. The Towers are cheaper than some other New Haven downtown spots but saying you get what you pay for is generous. It does take a little more time, but I wish I would have kept shopping around. I would have saved myself the cost and hassle of moving after only a year.

Also, they'll never let you sign more than a one year lease and they'll always increase your rent.

Last thing, I wouldn't trust the really positive reviews on hear. I suspect the leasing agents get on here themselves and post the positive reviews. None of the residents I know, atleast 10, love the Towers. Most were as disappointed as I but didn't want to go through the hassle of moving. Others did move. At best they never had to deal with management and found their apartment to be just fine.
