Don't be fooled. SO HORRIBLE you won't understand unless it actually happens to you.

I've rented a lot of apartments in a lot of cities and this by far is the worst on multiple levels. Don't be fooled by the high ceilings and granite countertops. The positives stop there. Almost every apartment has had some sort of water damage with every rainfall. I have actually had the maintenance manager tell me that it IS a structural problem with the building and that there are no definite plans to fix it. Bottom line...I have a puddle every time it rains. Mold grows in the carpet and it takes threatening them to replace the carpet. And when they do it, they'll yell at you in the process and make you seem irrational. The management company is staffed by the most unintelligent and unhelpful people you will ever meet. They must talk about all of the problems at their staff meetings and then decide to not to anything about them and instead talk about how they can collect more money from the residents. When you complain, they turn it back at you and tell you that you're harrasing them...even with simple complaints. AND...the leasing company (i.e. Fran and Eva) will tell you that the building is kept at 72 degrees in the summer and something similar in the winter so that your electric bill isn't ridiculous. LIE. And when you bring it up to them they will give you a very complicated response as to why what they initially said isn't exactly a lie. But that doesn't explain why when I shut my AC off in the summer, it's 90 degrees. Notice that promise is not in the lease!!! And your electric bill will be ridiculous because the ceilings are so high it's takes a lot to heat/cool the apt. And none of the heaters/AC units work anyway. It's July and 7 people on my floor are without functioning AC. In the winter, I was without heat for a few weeks. My unit breaks routinely and they have no plans on replacing it. The walls are paper thin. People who work in the building have the code to the courtyard and use it as a passageway to the garage. Randoms are always walking around the courtyard at night..very unsafe. When I went to see several other units to move, one of them smelled musty. They said it was because (I QUOTE) "Indian people used to live there!" NO LIE! The reality was because there was tons of water damage and there was mold growing in the carpet. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT' I could go on, but hopefully this gets the mesasge across. DO NOT LIVE HERE. PLEASE! qmzu4EHcaGAPVCPw2Fai

I think there is 2 sides to every storey...we can make a mountain out of a mole hill...and to name one of people in this is not true...I have had nothing but great response from Fran and her Vacancy Buster people so do not let these sights fool you...I cannot vouch for the rest of the management team at the leasing office...My stay here has been fine..I only am responding to this because it was brought to my attention from a friend who is planning to move there...

I have to say the responses of this apartment complex is so on target. Unfortunately I painfully had to experience similiar situations and then to find out that the person who is heading the leasing office at this location is the daughter of the person running the building. They both are so not experienced when it comes to building care and customer/tenant care. They both have the same management skills which is as follows. Lie to the new tenant, do not take any calls on complaints that are health and safety concerns and great amount of rudness and lack of customer skills. I have been a tenant there for a year almost and it has been the worst experience that I have ever had in my life. I cannot believe that Yale is even allowing thier students to go there for housing. The halls have animal droppings, garbage seeems to be the natural scent of the halls and the elevators are so not safe. They do not even have phones in the elevators and pretend to have them...that is unbelievable. I hope that when you are looking for a place to live ask for housing no where near that location...they also own a building that says smoothie..lol..it is also known as Straus Adler building on Chapel/Olive street New Haven. Hopefully this helps anyone looking for housing...Good luck...Like I said look out for Eva/and her mother so I found out Stephanie...This place is a joke so do not let the 1st impressions fool you..you will be sorry about 2wks into the move...Oh yes and they do not have any problem not fixing what is due you and yet not let you out of your lease....Good Luck.....
