Nutmeg Woods has changed over the years since a lot of these reviews have been written. I do not know any truth of some of the reviews about rapes or drug activity. All the residents have to be credit checked and background checked so no felonies or misdemeanors allowed. If anything does happen on property and you want to know the truth, you can simply call the New London Police Department because they have anything that could have possibly happened on the property. Each resident has to qualify before even getting considered as an applicant. As for the maintenance staff, they also are background checked and they do have one spare key to get into the apartment if you have work order that needs to be done. Most people are not home during the day so they do have permission as stated on everyone's lease to enter the apartment. But if any resident felt uncomfortable with that, when they call in the work order they can request a phone call first. The maintenance staff has changed also through the years and I think they have it right this time. I mean no matter where you go you are going to have a wide array of people living on property but they all have to pass background checks first to live at Nutmeg Woods. And as for security, they do not ensure or provide security but there are locks on the buildings and it is the residents' fault if they leave the door propped because you are inviting outsiders to come into your building. I think Nutmeg Woods has definitely cleaned up and the property looks great and has a lot to offer. The staff in the office also has changed since these reviews and they are excellent. They probably have some of the best customer service of a lot of the properties I have visited and they do genuinely seem concerned when things happen and how they can help residents.

The residents may get background checks, but the people they bring in don't. That is why we had the cops knock on the door telling us the people downstairs were housing a convicted felon. They gave us their card and told us to call if we heard any noise downstairs. The complex may have cleaned up, I don't know, I just know the neighborhood it's located in is not so good and no amount of staff changes and face lifts will ever change that.

No matter where you go there are not so great areas and everyone has their opinions on places but I have had no problems. I mean there were 2 murders in Mystic in the past 2 years, and Mystic is supposed to be high class and safe!

I was raped when I lived at Nutmeg woods. I locked all my doors. Do not say somebody is asking for it or Nutmeg is so great. It is not it is dangerous and full of shady characters. A person needs to be clean to be on the lease not to live there there is a difference. Not to mention that call the police the area is not clean. Before you praise a ghetto do your research.

I think if they enforced resident's parking at a certain time in the lots, we would have a better community. Lots of outsiders parking in the lots until the wee hours leaving the residents' vehicles parked on the side of the street, prey to petty crimes. Sad, sad. No point in having those stickers, seriously.
