I lived in the 1st floor, garden style apartment for a year. At first, I had a good impression of the place. The rooms are HUGE in comparison to other places in the area, it's a great, quiet location, and I felt very safe.

RAIN ISSUES:
Unfortunately, there were a lot of little problems. There were COUNTLESS leaks everytime it rained. I had a leak within my FIRST month of living there, and until the day I moved out, maintenance NEVER fixed it...there was BLACK MOLD growing from my ceiling, and I developed an allergy!

DRAFT/ELECTRIC BILL ISSUES:
The door didn't shut fully, so in the winter, snow would blow in the door. There's ALWAYS a draft, which must have contributed to the OUTRAGEOUS electric bills. One month i paid almost $300...and i was BARELY ever home and never turned on the heat. REDICULOUS. I bought a cauking gun and sealed all the cracks, but that didnt help a bit.

BUG INFESTATION ISSUES:
If you have never seen a 'house centipede'...(see picture below of one that was in my apartment) they are HORRIFYING. They are enourmous, and almost impossible to catch b/c they are so fast! There were sooooooo many of them in my apartment, and i am a neat freak and always kept the place clean. It got to the point that I would encounter at least 5 a day... the complex did nothing about this problem.

I was so happy for that lease to be over. I have serious bug-fears now b/c of that place. You have no idea what its like living somewhere that you have to constantly check under the bed or in the shower b/c you are afraid of whats lurking there
