I am a current resident, have lived here for 2 years and 3 months and I would NOT refer anyone to these apartments. Here are the reasons why:
Currently this building was bought by a new company and since then it has gone DOWNHILL tremendously. The rude staff that everyone has commented about has been replaced by downright incompetent and unprofessional people. With XXXX, we had get togethers once in awhile for the tenants, not anymore. The parking is no longer free, you have to pay to park in the unsecure parking garage. The gym equipment, if its working, is old and outdated. The room that has the "amenities" that we pay for is locked and you have no access to the microwave/coffee/drinks etc. when you leave for work. The best part is the demolition of the pool area that has now been under construction for over 4 months. Today, April 8, 2008, it is 70 degrees outside and we cannot use the grills, sit in the sun or even enter the outside deck because it is all blocked off by construction. The construction has also cut off half the dog path so walking your dog is difficult. Renter's insurance is no longer a choice, but now a requirement. The office closes whenever it feels like it, the Saturday before Easter, myself and 2 other tenants sat outside the door for 30 minutes before the conceirge showed up to tell us the office was closed (although the sign in the elevator stated they were only closed on Sunday).Luxury is a far cry from what living here is actually like. They appear nice, nice when you arrive. They can charge whatever they want because of location and most of the people living here are corporate anyhow, so they don't pay rent out of pocket. They can charge whatever they want (and can) whenever they want to get the accounts of these corporate housing people to pay and don't care about the tenants whom pay out of pocket. I would suggest you try other places. I know your asking why I am still here, I am riding out my lease and moving as are/have numerous other tenants I have spoke with.

The response to this review is more worrisome than the review itself, since it was almost certainly written my managment staff.

As a former tenant @ Merritt River myself, I concur with the CRAP review. Anyone thinking to rent here would do themselves well to look elsewhere. Nothing quite like paying for an unsecured parking lot (it's nothing to talk with other tenants whose vehicles have been keyed or broken into) while putting up with the rude staff, willy-nilly office hours and the now smaller dog area (which is one important reason people rent here as most places do not allow dogs).
