Pretty good experience

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004

Background: I am about to finish my first year at Century Hills. I live in a 2-bedroom 2-bathroom apartment (Durham style)

Pros:
- thick concrete walls block out neighboring noise... I rarely ever hear anything outside my apartment wall
- nice grounds
- maintenance is quick to arrive to fix problems
- good surrounding community.. as a woman, I did a lot of running outside without any fear for my safety
- lots of apartment space. I absolutely adore my huge walk-in closet, the pretty brick walls, the HUGE living room, the balcony, the nice view from the 5th floor
- location. I love the location. This place is close to everything it seems!

Cons:
- while I could not hear my neighbors, I could certainly hear my roommate!!! The walls must be very thin between rooms because I could hear her phone conversation, stereo (even though actually she did not have it very loud at all.. but I could hear it all pretty well), and even heard her having sex numerous times, much to my chagrin... so if you love peace and quiet inside your apartment, choose the Carlisle style which has the two bedrooms at opposite ends of the apartment
- expensive rent. If you could find a roommate to share rent, that would be ideal. Otherwise, this place is just way too expensive. And they seem to raise rent ever year. This year they raised my rent almost $75 per month. Ouch.
- skyrocketing electrical bill in the winter. Last couple months, bill was $175 per month. Yikes!
- even though the balcony is very nice, I found myself not wandering out there very often because of the annoying highway traffic noise.

Summary: I had a good experience at Century Hills, but I will not be renewing my lease due to its high cost to maintain it (high rent plus insanely high heat cost). I would, however, recommend this place to anyone who isn't too concerned with money.
