First I'll start off with stating that I too was a victim some internal break-in stuff going on.
One weekend I was out of town, when I came back, I noticed that my kitchen light (which would take about 30-60 seconds to actually illuminate), instantly illuminated. The door-knocker was in a raised position, and items next to my fuse box were moved (and the fuse box still ajar).
I figured, hey, maintenance came in and fix it, cool. However, later that week I noticed that my door-chain was very, very bent (the metal fixture that the chain hangs from). After looking around the fixture, I could see that someone was clearly working on the door. During the same week (before noticing the lock was bent) my girlfriend told me she heard someone messing with the door, but saw no one there when she went to investigate. After seeing this, it appears someone with keys to that apartment, attempted to unlock the apartment while we may of been in it. When they found the door chain was attached, they used some sort of a device to pry off the metal fixture. Seeing that they failed, they must of gave up, and did not wake us up (I always lock the door lock and door-chain before sleeping).
Now, you don't have to be a genius to realize the connection of someone from maintenance entering the apartment, seeing the contents of my apartment, and then an attempted breakin later that week. Clearly someone associated with the employees or an employee themselves attempted to break in. I did contact the police, they filed a report, and that was about it. When I asked them if they had any other incidents in the area, they kind of shrugged and told me to speak with the management office.
I called building maintenance to see if there was a record of anyone fixing the celing light in the kitchen, and they said no one did (they also added that their people are "stand up guys", if that is any comfort).
Okay, now that is off my chest...
Some tenants can be very rude, especially when leaving their laundry in the machines for hours. After the 4th of July, there were tenants who fired fireworks for hours off their balcony...at 1AM.
After our first month there, during the cold winter, it took 2 days for the heater to be fixed. We returned back from a trip at 2AM, only to discover the apartment was freezing cold. After calling their emergency number, it was hours until someone called back. Once they called back, it wasn't until around noon they could get someone to look at it, and determine that they needed a apart. Then they had to order the part..etc..etc..
Be prepared to see the fire departmenet show up atleast once a month due to cooking fires. If you want to see the outcome, look at the floor of the lobbies and you can see where the fire hoses ran, and to whose apartment.
Also be prepared for the smell of curry wafting down the hallways.
Only one elevator is kept running during the weekends to cut on power. This makes move-in/out real fun.
Go and take a walk around...see the tennis court behind the leasing office' Wow, nicely destroyed by weeds. They don't bother doing anything about it...
Or how about the pool in the back' Yes, there is another pool, but good luck ever getting in it. Rarely is it ever opened.
This is way overpriced for what reminds me of public housing type architecture.
Rocky Hill is boring, waaay boring. Go elsewhere.
