Not too bad...

I've lived at Forest Park for over a year now, and I have to say, it's not that bad. The manager is friendly, the maintenance is friendly. I've found both to be very helpful and they've always fixed things that go wrong. Occasionally they might have to fix something twice, but no big deal.
You can't hear through the walls, but yes, you can hear through the floors/ceilings pretty easily. Glad we're upstairs, can't imagine being on the first floor here.
Rent is a bit expensive now that they've stopped paying for heat, and there was a very small rent increase this year.
Very dog friendly community, from what I've seen, though as a dog owner myself, I wish people would pick up better after their animals. We don't want our puppy stepping in that stuff any more than we want to step in it ourselves. Every once in a while, management sends out a notice to remember to pick up after dogs, and it gets better for awhile, but then people eventually get a bit lazy again. If I had kids, I wouldn't want them playing on the grass without checking first - but there is a playscape for them too.
In contrast to previous responses (I think people only post here when they're really pissed off anyway), I've had only pleasant experiences with the neighbors. But I will say, that I didn't really get outside much until we had our puppy. Once we got him, and were out walking around all the time, we got to know a lot of people and other dog owners. Frankly, they've all been decent. Some of our neighbors keep treats in their pockets for the doggies of the complex and our pup got an amazing socialization just from going out for walks. There's a dog park very nearby - really convenient, nice place to go.
I like the location of the apartments - near the highway, near lots of restaurants. There's even a sushi restaurant that will deliver to this place. Best pizza in town now delivers here (that would be Crustworks, for those not in the know).
Regarding comments about feeling safe on the apartment grounds - I have never once felt in danger in the daylight. Generally quiet at night, but yes, there have been some incidents where the police were called. I don't like to walk the dog at night by myself, and if I had kids, I'd probably keep them in at night. But how dangerous is it really' Not that bad - nothing like living in the city or anything.
Regarding quality of the apartments. Well... they are spacious - but the space exists in the living room area, definitely not the kitchen. ;) What inexpensive apartments have big kitchens anyway' For the record, until they stopped paying for heat, these were pretty inexpensive for the area. I don't like the texture on the walls and the windows are a bit strange, but they are big and let in lots of light if you're on the right side of the building.
Laundry - well, I don't really like the cards, but it beats having to carry coins around, sometimes. I hate not having laundry in the apartment with us and having to carry it to the other building. Other amenities: there's a pool we didn't use, a grill area that looked like it'd be nice to use in the summer, a fitness room that is pretty good, and free, of course.
Parking is fine, nothing like my last apartment. You get one space for your car, and there are lots nearby for an extra car. You can park along the entranceway if there's no room in the lot and there's always room there, and that's not a big deal either - it's not really a far walk or anything. Last apartment, I pretty much had to park across the street and sometimes there was no room at all, so I'd have to illegaly park. Nothing like that here.
Anyway, this is getting a bit long, but I'll just say that on the whole, this has been a positive experience. I guess maybe I'm not as bothered by some of the stuff that the others are bothered by. It's not perfect, but it's certainly liveable. Nice for dog owners too.
