First of all, does anyone else think that the previous comment "Very Happy" sounds like management planting a comment''

If not, they would be the only tenants I've spoken to who are happy with their experience @ Avalon.

I think I can sum it up with this sentiment: When an apartment bills itself as luxury and charges rent & fees out the ***, they have a responsibility to live up to that billing.

Avalon doesn't even attempt to live up to it.

Once they get you to sign the lease, they don't care about you.

I have actually lived in 2 apartments at Avalon Glen: First I was in a 2 bedroom and then moved to a one bedroom.

The reason I moved to a cheaper apartment instead of leaving was only because I didn't make the 60-day(!) deadline to give notice & didn't want to lose my substantial security deposit.

Besides, much of Stamford is equally expensive.

I am leaving at the end of this lease, though!

Let me try to think of some good things..

the landscaping and pool are beautiful in spring & summer.

I rented in the spring and this was one of the reasons.

ummmmmm ...

that's it.

First of all, if you're "lucky" enough to get one of the apartments facing the pool and lawn, good luck trying to sleep during the summer!! I haven't experienced anything this loud since leaving my dorm in college.

There is supposed to be a 9pm cutoff for outdoor parties but nobody enforces it.

It is in the center of the complex - try to imagine it being like an ampitheater - the noise is amplified and echoes.

Last summer there were parties out there on weeknights until 1am - pizza, beer, 12 obnoxious people, get the picture' Let's not even discuss the weekend noise...

Fees''' fuggedabout it..

they have fees out the yazoo..

Garbage fees, gym & pool fees, non-refundable pet fees $50/month for the pet...

When I renewed my lease last year they forgot to re-program my entry card so it expired and I was locked out in the middle of the night & couldn't even get into the garage.

I parked in one of the office spaces..and they TOWED MY CAR! All they would give me was an apology.

I had to pay for the tow before I could get my car back.

Locked me out.

Towed my car because I was locked out.

oops.

sorry.

Then, I misplaced my card about a month later & they told me they were going to charge $75 for a replacement (luckily, i found it myself) So let me get this right..when you lock me out, there's no penalty for you.

when i lock myself out, i pay $75.

They can't keep records.

They're really not that smart.

When I leased my apartment, the agent actually walked with me to the garage to look at the spots to give me the best one for my apartment (great guy but he's since left).

We picked it out and I watched him write my name and spot# on his chart.

A few months later, I go down to the garage and they've put orange Violation stickers on my car! They said I wasn't in the correct spot because it wasn't on their chart!!! HELLO''' How about putting a note under my windshield to call the leasing office'' I got an apology and that was it.

We're not allowed to penalize them when they totally f** up.

They have been promising to replace my kitchen cabinets since I moved in.

The agent who showed me the apartment said it would be done before I moved in.

GET ALL THESE THINGS IN WRITING!! A year later, it still hasn't been done.

I've asked 3 times now.

Also, BOTH of the apartments smelled greasy or dirty when I moved in.

Almost like a chinese food restaurant or something...

That's all I can think of right now..thanks for letting me vent!
