Nightmare on Bedford Street - Don't Move Here!!!!

Where to even begin! We signed up for what we were told would be a "fully-renovated" apartment. What we got ....not even close ...not even livable! Cornerstone at Bedford is horrible. We almost moved in, but thank goodness we didn't and came to our senses. If you decide to make the mistake and move in, they make you sign about 50 pages of paperwork (sketchy right there ...this is a rental ...not a purchase...hello!!) Plus, they refuse to even let you see your apartment before move in --even if it's ready. After getting ready to move in (U-Haul truck packed and everything!), there were MAJOR problems with the apartment upon entering. So, obviously the argument went down right there. We were not moving into a hole.
Due to the fact that this place lies, they agreed and promised our security deposit back ...we should have gotten that in writing. From then on out, it took them literally over a month to return it to us. We had to literally call or visit there weekly (and more than 2x a week). Staff was rude ...management was the worst I've ever encountered. The female manager in the rear office straight back as you walk in - just horrible and plain out rude. Talk about attitude and a superiority-complex. She did not return phone calls, lied repeatedly, and is just plain unprofessional. We were less than half a step away from going to court with this place over our security deposit that had not been returned, with everything in place with our lawyer.
Do not let the sign in front of the complex fool you....the apartments are NOT fully-renovated...they are partially renovated (meaning ONLY new carpeting) ...everything else is old (ie: the fridge was bashed in with dents in order to fit, the bathroom and tiling was old and dirty, the air conditioners were old and dirty, walls were patchy, kitchen cabinets are old and sticky, and the inner door leading into the apartment was not even painted over with a fresh coat of paint. Did I mention there was a LEAK in the coat closet that they tried to paint over and cover hoping we wouldn't see it on move-in day!) Plus the apartment dimension we saw and were promised in the "model apartment" did not exist. We were promised 2 closets upon entrance to the right, and what would have been our apartment was missing a closet ...and our bedroom was significantly smaller than what we had seen and been told it would be. All lies. Do not be fooled by the "model apartment" they show you. It's not a reality of what you will be getting. Plus, they said washers/dryers were being replaced way before we moved in ...LIE LIE LIE. Upon what would have been our move-in day, they were old. PLUS, our apartment was NEXT to the washer/dryer room (not even mentioned to us before signing ...can they hide any more facts'') Paint in hallways peeling. The list goes on and on. It's all worn and torn.
Even the management admits that they know the lead maintenance person is horrible and has attitude. We later heard the parking attendant is horrible, and anyone can just drive in ...nobody checks. Nice safety! And a guest parking situation does not exist, so don't let them lead you around in circles if you bring that up. And that's just the tip of the iceberg on all that's wrong with this place. Everything you read about this place is true ...and then some. Needless to say, we didn't move in. HORRIBLE management ...the snottiest ever ....disgusting human beings, with particular emphasis on the female manager ...thinks she's important and bright ....guess what...you're neither!)
One positive note: There is a man who works in the leasing office (first desk straight ahead as soon as you walk in). He was a nice guy and tried to help us with our security deposit nightmare ...even he acknowledged that the waiting time for our deposit return was excessive and did not blame us for being angry. Oh, and don't be fooled ...they will all tell you that most of the staff lives on the premises, so that makes you think it can't be bad. Don't be fooled ...yeah, they probably live in an actual "fully renovated apartment." You will not be so lucky. All sketchy. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE!
FYI: And here's the kicker ...the complex staff said they even know about this website and these reviews (they said they read the reviews from time to time). The reason I know this is because we asked them about some things we read on here prior to moving in - some things that concerned us before move-in day. And they assured us that everything would be fine. DO NOT TRUST. Well, if the staff is reading this review ...the shoe is on the other foot now, isn't it!'
Bottom Line: This place will sugar coat everything, when in reality it's all really falling apart at the seams. You're better off living out of your car.
