Terrible Place to live.

These apartments are absolutely awful. In the winter they are extremely drafty. There are spiders everywhere. They are dirty and depressing and everything is broken. The bathroom is disgusting, there is nowhere to put things around the sink as it is simply a sink protruding from the wall...no countertop. The toilet is gross and the shower always got clogged. The walls were wood panelling and it was depressing in the winter when it got dark at 5pm. Our screen door was always broken, the wind would blow it open and it would bend every which way. It took several days after a snowstorm before they shoveled the road and walkways. They never mowed the lawns. There was construction going on all year long and I think it had to do with the septic tank because it smelled of sewage all year.

Overall they seem cheap but end up costing similar to other apartments because they use electric heat which is expensive. In the winter our electricity bill was almost 200 dollars for Jan and Feb. The walls were paper thin and the stove sucked. Our fridge often broke and the apartments were extremely hard to keep clean as they were old, dingy and falling apart to begin with. Don't do it. Live on campus or in better apartments. First Phillips sucks. Knollwood sucks.
