Overpriced, but what apt close to UCONN isn't

Yes this place is expensive, but almost all the apartments close to UCONN are(with the exception of two places). Renwood is approx. less than 2 miles to campus so it's very convenient. The bad part is that the bedrooms are so small, if you're moving in from dorms, then it shouldn't be a problem though. NO LAUNDRY FACILITIES( yes that part definitely sux). There's a large kitchen, which I don't mind but I'd rather have larger bedrooms. The living room is of decent size, the balcony is huge and so is the front yard.

The price has raised for the following year from $1000 to $1100 a month w/out utilities. This place gets very cold in winter and utilities during the winter can rise to $300 easily. Another downside to this place is that the walls are so thin, you can hear everything going on in each room. The management, New England Realty isn't the best. Two months ago, they tried to implement a parking rule: if you're car didn't have a permit, it would get towed. Parking for my building never had a problem as we had lots of spaces available. Lots of the tenants wondered what would happen with our visitors' cars and NER didn't appear to have an answer. Afterwards it seems like they just gave up on the rule.

As far as parties go, there are occasional parties but nothing out of the normal for me. Although, there was one large party in the beginning of this year where an ambulance had to be called and some cars were damaged.

It may be surprising but my roommates and I will continue our stay at Renwood: the distance to campus is def. a plus and it's a pretty good place to throw parties. If we didn't have a large balcony or garage/basement(not all the Renwood apts. do) then we would probably move out because then we wouldn't be able to justify the costs.

I would recommend Rewnood if you have enough roommates so that it doesn't cost too much and if you're a person who needs the convenience of living very close to campus. I probably wouldn't stay at Renwood if I wasn't a UCONN student though. My advice is to look around, get opinions from people you know living in off-campus apartments, and figure out all the costs because utilities get very expensive during winter months.
