Pretty good place

I lived in Springville for one year, in one of the older "mill" areas, with the tall ceilings, brick walls, and heavy timber construction. This was the feature that really sold the place for me. It was such a great place to have people over. Very spacious, and just looked classy.
But there were some downsides. The buildings are very old, and so there are some pest problems. I took them in stride, but expect the occasional ant invasion or random giant red centipede to come from the brick walls. Also a problem with silverfish.
The section I lived in was two-floor townhouses. The second floor is all one bedroom, and two of the 4 walls are floor to ceiling, wall-to-wall glass. Another beautiful thing, until summer, when it becomes a greenhouse up there. Our electric bills in the summer were in the $200 a month range.
There were maintainance issues. Our central air/heating never worked right, despite multiple attempts to fix it. There was also major water problems, due to the flat roof. During a moderate to heavy storm, it would literally rain in the downstairs bathroom, as water poured in along the side of the toilet vent pipes. They may have solved this by now, but it was very irritating.
The neighborhood is also crappy. Expect to have your tires slashed or your car broken into. On weekends, the people from the bar across the street flood the parking lot, and if you come home late there's no place to put your own car.
The walls were terribly thin. I couldn't sleep at night because the guy next door snored so loud. I grew up with a dad who could shake the walls with his snoring, but at least I had something of substance between me and him. Not so with this apartment.
The gym and pool were nice. Overall, it was a very cool place to live, but had a lot of small irritating things about it that didn't seem to get addressed in a timely manner. The place I live now is much more bland, but I haven't had to call the landlord in the 4 years I've been here.
