On 6/12 My boyfriend and I went to look at a one bedroom apartment at Santini Villa. We told them we were expecting in the fall. They told us that their one bedroom apartments were only zoned for two adults and that there would be a problem if the baby was crying all the time. She (who I believe to be one of the owners) then proceeded to inform us of all the "cheaper" apartments in the area (she might as well have handed us the list of section 8 apartments!). I am aware of the fact that they cannot discriminate against us because of my being pregnant. I have told other places that we have looked at (for 1 bedrooms) about my pregnancy and none others have mentioned a problem with the zoning. After listing off apartments we were not interested in even looking at she then said if you still want to you could look at it. Surprise...we didn't. I would never want to give them a dime after that and I will never recommend anyone
even look at them. I have never felt so talked down to and degraded in my life and I am extremely upset about the whole thing. (Since we didn't make it past the front office I can't really rate the rest.)

While I don't think this is anything to pursue, if anyone else has had a problem with landlords discriminating you can Call the Commission of Human Rights and Opportunities to complain. Type it in the search part on the State of Connecticut website.

I had the same problem with them 20 years ago. We had our first child and they raised the rent by a lot for the additional person for heat, hot water usage etc. I said, this is a baby, how much heat/hot water can they possibly use. We moved out. I thought they were terrible as well.
