Very Good Place to Live

I have lived in a 1 br Woodbrook Villa townhouse for 11 months now and I have to say that overall I have been pleased with living here.

First, let me say that this place is VERY quiet. The walls are very thick and it's almost impossible to hear your neighbors. And I have neighbors directly on both sides of my apartment. I have had no problem being able to crank up the volume quite loud and talk as loud as I wish. Likewise, I never heard any significant noises from my neighbors.

Second, although there is no garage or carport, it is very nice to be able to park in an assigned parking space (some units have two) literally 15 feet away from your front door. This makes it painless to carry in groceries or move furniture into the apartment. There is also ample parking space for visitors.

Third, the units are very spacious and the floor plans are functionally sound. The finished rec room in the basement is a very nice addition that is hard to find in other apartment complexes. I have my exercise equipment down there, which requires ample space. This is difficult to achieve in other traditional apartments because a standard bedroom isn't large enough to place such things.

Fourth, each unit comes with an AC unit, dishwasher and washer & dryer in the basement. I have to have those three amenities, period. There is no other place in the Hartford metro area that offers AC, dishwasher, Washer/Dryer, soundproof walls, finished heated basement and parking at your door for $1,150 per month (as of writing this review), WHILE having heat and water included in the rent. My electric bill averages about $60 per month, which is not bad for a 1200 sq foot townhouse.

Maintenance is fabulous. I had a dishwasher breakdown on me (the water supply wasn't working), so I called the staff and they came into my apartment the next day while I was at work. I came home and found a brand new dishwasher in my kitchen, no questions asked! Also, they do a fine job at snow removal in the winter, and the outdoors/landscaping are well kept and maintained.

The location is in a very safe, quiet section of eastern Vernon, away from the hustle and bustle of the west side of Vernon. There are quite a few families living in this complex, and not a hint of any ghetto element. There's also a large window facing the west and another facing the east. This allows for sunlight inside the apartment almost all day long. It's great.

My only gripes about the apartment are that the appliances are quite outdated...probably from the 1980's. My AC is extremely loud and takes about 4 hours of running time just to drop the temperature in the apartment by 5 degrees. The stove is a piece of junk, too. But oh well, at least they all function properly.

Also, there seems to be a minor problem with silverfish. I see a few per month. They are harmless, but still...very nasty.

In conclusion, I highly recommend living here because it has a lot to offer at a reasonable price.
