Would live there again

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I moved in July 2004 and moved out September 2005 when I bought a house in Southington.
Rivers Edge was a great place to live and there are parts of it I miss, like the short walk over to shopping.
The floors pretty solid so I didn't hear everything that was going on above me. Doing laundry has never been an issue. Snow removal was good. Getting packages delivered was a pain because UPS and FedEx would rarely leave them at the door even when requested.
At times it was very hard to get ahold of someone from the office but they would always return the call. Maintenance was prompt when I had a valve on my toilet break.
They added speed bumps right as I was moving out, which I guess some people like, but I'd rather not have the additional wear and tear on my car every time I come and go.
At times it felt like I was in a senior community, but the folks were polite once they got over the fear that a young person who might make noise was moving in! The party during the summer was a nice touch. The pool was a great addition that I know I'll miss. You start to see the same people there every day and it quickly becomes a community.
The landscaping was nice. When I visited the complex I liked the layout and building style. If I had to live in an apartment again, Rivers Edge would be on the top of my list.
I went running around the complex at night and it always felt safe.
When I moved out I didn't get hit with any nit-picky fees about the condition I left my apartment.
Reading some other reviews I heard about the noise, but I didn't really notice it. Every so often you'd hear police sirens going down the street on 84, but it's no different than any other semi-urban area. Two or three times I've heard an argument break out in one apartment across the way who had their windows open when I had mine open.
I'm really surprised to see all of the people who don't recommend the place. If you're planning on living in Waterbury, this is probably the best place you'll find. For me it was either Waterbury or Danbury, and heading North was a lot cheaper!
The gate usually was broken, and in winter it was usually up for the plows. I'm not quite sure what the point of it is, but I guess it could act as a deterrent.
