I wanted to give this place a good review. Unlike the others, I don't think this area is as unsafe as people say. People in west hartford think that the elmwood area of west hartford is "bad and dangerous" really I think theyre just overly sheltered people. That being said. I can't give this place a good review because of the HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE staff, maintenance and condition of apartment. EVERYTHING IS HORRIBLE!

1) the staff "accidently" were able to use the same check more than once and therefore able to take money out of my account 3 times, taking out three times the rent from my account. I am a graduate student and on a tight budget and this really f-ed me over. When i confronted them about it they acted as if i was making too much of a big deal about it. Any person on this planet would be upset if they woke up one day and thousands of dollars were missing from their bank account. They looked at me and were like "oh were YOU the one that made that call'" As if i did something socially unacceptable by calling to find out where my goddamn money is and why they took it. When I went to the office in person, most of the staff thought i was just some young kid who miss-read their bank statement and tried to make me be quiet.

2) when I first moved in there were 20 things that were broken. things from the stove not working to closet doors that couldn't open and UGLY BROWN LARGE STAINS ALL OVER THE CARPET. Ive complained about the carpet numerous times and no one ever came to remedy the problem. Ive bene told that in the records the apt was cleaned and that they couldnt do anything. IF THEY WERE CLEANED THERE WOULDNT BE BROWN STAINS EVERYWHERE!!! I was able to remove the stains with a cheap vaccum and 2 dollar carpet stain spray. This means that a professional carpet cleaner neverrrr touched my carpet before i moved in.

3) the maintanance people did promptly repair the broken things when i first moved in but every month there after I have found new things that DO NOT WORK or ARE BROKEN.

4) the drafts in this place are horrendous. If i put my hand by the wall facing the balcony I can find numerous spots where i feel cold air rushing in./ My apartment is NEVER warm. friends hate hanging out at my place. There is a vent that lets cold air in form the outside that DOES NOT close. who the hell designed an apartment building in NEW ENGLAND where there are vents that lead to the outside that do not close''!'!'! Ive been told to just cover it with plastic. when it rained water seeped in through these holes and flooded my carpet. Im afraid that the floors are rotten and they may collapse one day. Some hole were filled but I constantly find more WTF!'!'!'!'

5) the walls are SOOO THIN. I hear everything my downstairs neighbors say. I can hear the husband yawn. Everything that goes on in the hallway you can hear in the apartment as if they are in the room. The same goes for when you are outside the apartment. If you pass by an apartment door you can hear everything inside that apartment. I can hear my next door neighbor snoring at night.

6) I have read all the other posts for this complex and there are posts from 2004 that state that the front gates are broken and were never fixed. Well guess what. It's 2009 and when i first moved in they didnt work and they still don't work. It's been 5 years!!! thats REALLY FISHY. I don't really think they're broken it's not a rocket ship its a gate with a lever mechanism!
