Since we moved in, we have had no problems really. 1 problem, reported it to the staff, and they fixed it. No one bothers us here. The neibors keep to themselves, you never see people roaming the building, but it seems like we are having a parking lot war for spaces. The mail situation is not the best. I wouldent have packages sent here. Management says they will take your packages if your not home, I havent seen that done once. The mail man leaves notes posted to the door saying he tried to deliver but no one was around. The washing machines and dryers are nice, no problem there. Heat is perfect, no problems with the heating. Stove and refrigerator are fine, no problems there eather. Phone and cable hook-ups are right in the walls already, so when you call to get those things it dosent take long to install. The staff does come into your apartment when ever they feel its nessasary, even when your taking a shower. The enviroment is fine, they upkeep the lawn very well, and the dumpsters outside are dumped often. apartment cealings are high, about 12ft. windows are about 8ft, so you do get very nice light from the sun on a sunny day. we do have central air, and a fan vent in the bathroom. As well as a heat lamp and mirror light in the Bathroom. We have a decent amount of outlets for electricity in the apartment, with no problems with the breakers. The apartments do not come furnished but living rooms have enough room for 2 couches. upon moving in your apartment, they steam clean the rugs/floors and paint the walls, for a decently "new" look. The apartments have much character with the old school heat and air venting hanging from the ceiling. The kitchen cabinets have a decent amout of room, more room then we need and more room then the house that i was ling in had. Cable internet, phone, and video is avilable, as well as local phone company phone and DSL access. Stove,Heatand hot water run on natural gas. Even though I think we are having a war in the parking lot, the cars are being left alone, no vandalism. hallways outside the apartments are well heated, lighted and carpeted. Carbon monoxide detectors/alarms in all the apartments and hallways. A cleaning crew keeps the hallways, stairwells and wash rooms clean. Cats are allowed if you let management know about them. Cell phone service works fine. (at least for Nextel and Cingular) The outside of the building looks great, very clean and upkept. Landlord does not live in building but is around during the normal 9 to 5 shift monday thru Friday. All the outside access doors are locked and the front door has a apartment buzzer for the visitor to call the resident to get the door opened remotely. havent had any bug, ant, or bee problems. All in all, I think this is a well kept, decent place to live and worth what you pay for. If you do have problems, the staff will work with you to get the problem or problems fixed. Since we have moved here I have seen the staff gradually replacing different things and keeping the building up-to-date. If your looking to move here I would say that 75% of other apartment buildings in the area have much much much worse living conditions then this one. I have looked around, this building is one of the better ones. Its right on Main St. so if there is any problems emergency crews would be here in a timely matter.

I have been living in the Apartment building for 4 years and i would say that it is one of the nicest places in West Haven Ct. I see that someone has left a good review the other day on this website and I couldent agree more with what they have to say. Like I said i have been living here for 4 years and i have never seen a silverfish problem. I mean every once and a while one shows up, but that happends in any place. (house, apartment, office, hospitals, everywhere) I agree with the other review about the residents, everyone keeps to themselves, no one bothers you and I haven't seen anything wrong with the parking situation. The neighborhood is fine, your right down the street from the "downtown" of west haven with everything from drug stores to banks, coffee shops, gas stations, and work out gyms. The building is in great shape for its age and is maintained very well. the lobby of this building is out of this world by how beautiful it is, it's very impressive. The apartments are beautiful also. They range from 1 bedroom studio to 3 bedroom regulars with some of the apartments with 1, 1.5, or 2 bathrooms. I have been living here for 4 years so i have seen many of the different apartments in the building, all nice and all very respectful. the rugs are very clean in the hallways and the walls are always very clean and new. just this morning i saw the truck out front of the building with professional rug cleaners cleaning all the stairs and halls leading into the building from the parking lots. They do this whenever the landlord feels it needs it done, sometimes 2 or 3 times a year. Cats are allowed, i see them looking out the oversized windows from the parking lot all the time, and i never smell any type of animal smell in the halls. I believe every apartment comes with a dishwasher that is in working order, and i also believe they are all energy star approved, so the savings in energy and hot water are passed right on to the residents. I had a problem with my dishwasher after the first year, and they couldent fix it so they just installed a brand new one, no questions asked, i was out a dishwasher for about 2 days, that it!. If you were to ask me if this is the right place for you to live, I would say your crazy not to take an apartment here while you have the chance. Perfect building as your first, or your 5th. I would say that not many elderly live here, mostly 45 and under, with many newlyweds, and single parents with not more than 2 kids. To be honest with you, I hardly see any little kids in this building at all, so you wont have to worry about the noise from little kids running around.

This sounds like it was written by the rental office...who on earth says oversized windows when talking about cats being allowed...plus how did you see all those different types of apartments if everyone keeps to themselves, nice try.

I have been living in the building for 2 years now. I do believe that the neighbors keep to themselves, i have talked to some and everyone has been very nice. While doing laundry in the decently "new" washing machines (and dryers, new style washing machines that are the side washers and gas heat dryers) a lady let me into her 2 bedroom apt to view the layout. it was very nice. You can walk into the management office at anytime during the week M-F 9-5 and someone will take you into available apartments if you ask. I have seen quite a few different units, they all are painted and professionaly rug cleaned before re-renting the units. Management does an excellent job making sure the units are spotless before they let new people occupy. Stove/refridgerators are basic, but not more than 4 years old. Its no problem to recieve parking lot stickers for the car, just show office your car registration and id. every floor has a laundry room. The laundry machines take special cards insted of using quarters. I have never had a problem in more than 2 years with someone touching my laundry while its in the machines. All 99 units have individual central air conditioners/hot water heaters/forced hot air heating units. I do believe that there is 2 full time maitnence guys for the 99 units. All major issues including the lawn,parking-lot,outside of building is contracted out and not the responsibility of the maitnence guys. All doors to the building are locked at all times, ad you need a key to get in, management is very good about keeping these doors managed and working. Its really not a bad place, I have never had a problem with maitnence fixing anything once i report it. After you tell the office the guy is knocking on your door most of the time 15 minutes later, if not walks out of the offic with you and has tool kit in hand.

I would have to agree. The building is beautiful. I have friends that live there and their apartments are all beautiful. I have heard parties going on at some other apartments, but what building doesn't have them. For the person who says the rental agency wrote one of the postings, I would not believe that as they could possibly be sued for portions of the paragraph like who lives there and about the children. Have any of you been to the other properties in West Haven or lived there. They will say the exact same thing about theft of cars, parties, neighbors, thin walls, etc. If you want extravagance then go down town where the money is more than your annual income and STILL you will hear of the exact same problems. Buy a home and you will STILL hear of the same problems. You can't get mad at the managers for the way others act. When they first move people in they are seeing the perfect person, but when people move in the true side shows. They won't know if the person is a nasty filthy person, a problem, or that they party. Their credit doesn't state that. I honestly believe that people who leave these postings are probably people that were problems in the building. I have definately seen worse and Gionnatti is far from even being bad.
