Reading so many reviews about price and features leads me to believe that people don't understand River's Bend at all.
River's Bend is the chance to lease a home, without the hassle of a mortgage. The complex was built in the 1970s as a condo complex with the intent to be owner occupied. By the 1990s most of the units were owned by three major leasing agencies. Equity is only one of them, and if you have issues with them, you should look into some of the others.
Just as if you owned your own condo, you have to pay for your water, trash removal, lights, cable. They do not charge you a separate condo association fee, which would cover snow and landscaping. They do a very, very good job of maintaining the grounds and exteriors of buildings.
The rate for a 2-bedroom townhouse is about $1 per square foot. These are very large condos, bigger than a lot of starter homes. If you want to feel like you're in a home, and not an apartment, come lease at River's Bend.

Be careful about the term "leasing a home." At the end of the day you still live in an apartment. I do not believe that River's Bend is accepting any new "buyers" unless sold from a current owner to another perspective owner. At the end of the day you are still paying rent for an expensive old apartment and you still have to pay for all of your utilities which can get very very expensive in the winter. The units have poor insulation, with old single-pane windows, leaky doors and freezing pipes. I am moving out as soon as my lease expires and moving to another equal apartment where utilities are included in the rent.

I think management should have to list themselves as such and should not be allowed to post comments online in favor of their own facility.
