Manager's Response

From: Manager Date: 11/29/2006
We have an exterminater that comes to the property each week. This service must be requested by the tenant which this person has not done. We know this as we have had no complaints regarding the presence of mice. We work hard each day to make each and every tenant happy with their apartments and to provide excellent service. Should you have a problem with any type of insect you should report this to the office. We are not interested in responding to other personal attacks on management. I would be concerned with living in an apartment that does not have an extermintor that comes each week. This provides a service to residents. I'm not sure where one of the responders to this has been working for nine years, but I can tell you that I have been doing this for over 20 years with several companies and they have all had regular service. I don't think I'd like to live in a building that didn't. If there is any building in DC that has never had a roach, I'd like to know where it is.

Why is an exterminator needed each week? That scares me. At my current apartment, there has never been an exterminator visit throughout the 10months I've been here, and no sight of insects at all. I'd scream if I saw ONE roach. Guess that means I shouldn't move here.

I would have to agree with you poshrenter. I work in property management and out of the 9 different properties I've worked at, we have never had an exterminator visit routinely. Not to say that we have never had an exterminator come out, just not on a weekly basis. I think the manager should have handled this review differently. Sorry to say manager, but poshrenter's response hit it on the spot!
