I've lived at 2800 Woodley for close to 3 yrs now. It has a terrific location near the Adams Morgan/Nat'l Zoo Metro and a lovely scenic residential view and generally quiet. The bldg was built in the 1940s so there are some nice details in the apts. - hard wood floors, windows in the bathrooms, built in china cabinets.
Sadly the in-house management (resident manager) is very subjective as to who she assists with complaints or repairs and if questioned is dismissive or defensive. The owner of the bldg. doesn't help much either but comes to the bldg regularly. The management company, William C. Smith & Co. have been the only ones who have resolved my problems. For example, I had issue with the replacement process for the new windows, the replacement process of the boiler. The management rarely gives notice of when a repair on the bldg is being done and that may cause a disturbance or access to the bldg. The laundry facilities are old and the prices keep going up. The industrial dryers cost $1.25 for 15 minutes.
Also, recently they try to impose a pet rent (cats only) and a severe pet policy. The bldg. is a very pet friendly bldg in general, but WCS wanted to try and make more money for no real reason. Luckily, the tenants got together and stopped it and even got Counciwoman Cheh involved.
This bldg. would be better off if they replaced the in-house management and work on a better relationship between owner and WCS.
