Apartments here are decently priced. I first lived an efficiency, which would probably be fine for one person, but I would not recommend for a couple. I'm now in a one-bedroom, which is quite ample.
The front desk is manned 24 hours a day, which is both nice as a safety matter and because there's always someone around to sign for packages.
The building literally abutts the Melvin Hazen Trail which leads down into Rock Creek Park. It's a very pretty walk in good weather. Some of the apartments have nice-ish to nice views of the park. Many, however, only overlook the roof of the parking garage, so don't expect much.
It's super-close to the metro (just two blocks up), and Cleveland Park, as DC goes, is a great neighborhood. It has pretty much every type of store you might need (apart from hardward and clothing stores).
I don't have a car, so I don't know much about parking here. However, I do know that if you have an overnight guest, you can get a one-night parking pass for free, which is handy.
The prior reviewer mentioned noise issues. Yes, if your neighbor turns up the stereo, you can hear it. But we've been pretty lucky to live near mostly quiet folks. (Though jeez, one of our neighbors now has a piano which s/he plays AWFULLY - but fortunately rarely.) One time when a neighbor was really blasting the music, the front desk handled the matter very quickly.
And speaking of which, maintenance is usually performed very quickly, even on weekends. We had a problem with our toilet once and they replaced the entire thing within hours. Minor things get fixed speedily, too.
The laundry room is pretty adequate, but if you want to do your laundry at a popular time (eg, Sunday night), it's gonna be pretty crowded. My one complaint is that the credit-card payment machine for the laundry machines is often out-of-order.
The gym is small but usable. They just (fall 2005) bought a new elliptical trainer and stationary bike, but got rid of a (broken) stairmaster. So now there are two ellipticals and two treadmills, plus one older flywheel bike and the new bike. There are also a couple of weight machines, but they aren't that versatile.
You might see on homepage of the owner of the building (WRIT) that the apartments have "high-speed Internet." This just means that you can get a cable modem from Comcast if you want (or maybe also DSL) - the building is NOT wired with Ethernet jacks or anything fancy.
