We looked a this apartment building recently. The lobby is dated and smells like cigarettes & filth. There was a woman sitting in the lobby in her "housecoat" and boots (not a very appealing welcome). Some of the hallways are under repair. Those that have been repaired are not impressive. Now for the apartments... We looked at 2 apartments. One was worse than the next. The hardwood floors were uneven & cracked, not to mention filthy. The windows & walls were filthy. The kitchen was awful as well as the bathroom. The last thing I noticed while leaving the 2nd apartment was a ROACH! I DO NOT recommend looking at this apartment building

Okay, in all fairness this person just visited the apartment building and doesn't live here. I could write a lot of reviews about all the crappy apartments I've seen in DC. I've lived here since July and I am substantially happier than I was at my last place (Garfield House). The lobby is a lot nicer than a lot that I have seen. It's not stylishly modern like some of the brand new buildings- but the prices are cheaper than those places too. The building is cleaned regularly- you can see them cleaning in the mornings and it does not smell of "cigarettes and filth." Yes, there is usually a woman wearing a housecoat in the lobby but hey, she lives here, she's probably really lonely, and totally harmless. My hallway is under repair and it already looks nicer. I appreciate that they are making improvements and the repairs are Temporary. My apartment was very clean when I moved in- I have carpeting and have not seen any with woodfloors. I also have never seen a roach anywhere in the building. I never hear my neighbors, repairs have been done quickly and the apartment is a great deal for the area.

TO Awful that wrote the review: Get a grip! The lady that sits in the lobby minds her own business. She's a long time resident, (I know) because I've lived in the building for years. She enjoys her coffee, and the lobby area. IT would be nice to see her clothed, but all I've ever seen her wear are her house coats (she isn't the smallest thing). Have some compassion, she's elderly and never bothers anyone. You can't please everyone get a life.!

I've lived here for 3 years and it has never smelled like filth OR cigarettes. I've also never seen a roach.
