A nice place, but a la carte pricing is frustrating

So, I have lived here for a few months now, and I decided while bored at work to read the reviews on here. I have a lived in two other apartment complexes so far, and I like Avalon the best so far. There are a number of things that could be improved, though.

Positives:
The apartment is beautiful, though the materials are not the best quality.

There is a good use of space.

My apartment faces the woods, and it is great.

I have two bathrooms in a one bedroom.

I can close the door to the master suite, and still have guests who have access to what they need.

I have a dog, which is why I moved here. They are friendly, though they charge a non-refundable pet deposit and $50/mo for him. WAAAAAY overpriced, but read on...its not surprising.

Negatives:

Parking is so overpriced for what it is. One spot should be included with the rent, with a charge for an extra spot. I park on the street. There is a space onthe street where you can park and not have to move it until 4PM the next day.

The towing company is crazy. They wait for your tag to expire, then you are gone in a second. Everyone denies it but Avalon must make money off of this.

The Amenity fee is silly. $250 per year in addition to your rent to cover things that the building provides. It is added income for the building.

They use electricity for the AC and the stove. It is expensive as all get out.

$10/mo for trash removal' Come on...

The water bill is not figured by your units water usage...it is divided by the number of tenants in your unit, and square footage.

The water doesnt run cold. The coldest I can get it is room temperature.

I have insurance on their structure in the unit, which costs $100/year. If I wanted to insure a condo, I would buy one and write off the interest. Here, it goes to their inflated coffers.

I am a young professional and have not been awoken by screaming or anything like that. I am happy here, but it bugs me how they price things. They make it sound like less money than it is, but is really is a scam. Luckily, it is a comfy place and it is pet friendly, or I would be on the next train elsewhere.

Is it worth the money' I dunno. I like it so far, barring those complaints.
