Beautiful Building, Great Location, Poor Management

The building was renovated two/three years ago so it is updated and well done. The kitchen is fabulous for a rental apartment. The location overlooking Glover Park is great and it is right on the N6 bus line. Several other reviews cite a lot of noise and boisterous college kids. I have not experienced this. My hallway is very quiet and the other tenants are diverse - young professionals and elderly couples.
The building management team is not stellar. They are not terrible, but I expect more considering what I am paying. Small things like, I will have the light bulb in your storage unit replaced first thing Monday took until Wednesday; the first garage door opener they gave me did not actually open the garage door; the first two storage units they gave me keys for already were occupied; and the first reserved parking space they assigned me was already assigned to someone else... So, if you can muster zen-like patience you will be satisfied. If you cannot put up with this sort of thing than I would not recommend that you move here.

"Great location"? ROFLMAO!! We're nowhere NEAR Metro (it's like a mile away) and only the bus stops here. Then you have to WALK a long distance to catch it, because Avalon is set way back off Massachusetts Avenue. The building is near NOTHING and not within walking distance of anything...unless you want to walk 45-hour to get to the Ghetto Giant. Just wait. Unless you are management writing this false positive review...you will grow to hate your experience. Wait until we have another real fire. Wait until some gangsta gets in the elevators with his boyz and intimidates you. It's way beyond the minor things you have cited...which leads me to believe you're Avalon management (trying to appear like you're not) or a very recent tenant.

I spoke to many tenants who were very happy with their Avalon experience. But I also share he concerns of the detractor. I think the bottom line is Avalon charges too much for what it delivers.
