"Sometimes students are drunk and the halls smell like pot'''''" Sorry. That should NEVER be in a "family" residence that Avalon managment promotes this building to be. And forget the families -- your rights end where MINE begin. That means if YOUR pot smoke is coming in MY apartment, that's crap. That means that if YOU are harassing me on the elevator while you scream with open alcohol in your hands, that's bull. You getting the picture' AU students are NOTHING more than Georgetown rejects. They don't have the grades, class, or intelligence to get into Georgetown, so that act out constantly. You're the epitome of lower class college students...and you've ruined this building. You start fires, scream at the top of your lungs at 3:00 am in the open parking lot outside residents' windows, and generally act like --------. It's not cute, and I hope you get everything you deserve in life -- and I mean that in the most negative way possible. This building is the pits because of American University students. No other reason. If you move in here and you're NOT an AU student, you'll be miserable. And let's not even MENTION the issue of cigarette smoke from these morons. The building has hideous ventilation and these little f**ktards are partying day and night, so if you're not a smoker you'd better take it up pronto, because your apartment is going to reek of it anyway.

Wow... didn't know that this message board about apartments was a place to vent about AU college students as "Georgetown rejects" who "don't have the grades, class, or intellifence to get into Georgetown." Swearing and ranting is tasteless. Move to another building and please refrain from attacking students who are smart, work hard, and are generally good people.

Hmmm, "Nini99." You must be one of those "AU students." After all...you think "intelligence" is spelled with an "F." LOL! Poor thing. Still bitter over the Georgetown rejection, huh? Hint: THERE ARE NO SMART, HARDWORKING, "GOOD" American University students, hon. You should know. You're one of them. :-D

"Bob Jones University"??? ROFLMAO!! Hey. Spare us your hillbilly parents' Alma Mater, jhkjhk. Afford to live in Avalon, the armpit of DC, plebian? HAHAHAHAHAHA Hmmm. That's hilarious, because I just bought a house in Chevy Chase (DC side) for $804,500. Nice try, dipshit. Just because you're a lower income, lower I.Q. renter who couldn't get into MY school, GEORGETOWN, no need to hate. After all, lower class people like you have to matriculate somewhere, don't you? And we all AU is great at taking rejects. :-D P.S. "Acquire" isn't spelled "aquire," cretin. Perchance you should GARNER some intellect before you put keyboard to screen. Then again, that's fairly hopeless...after all...you attend AU. |

Sorry you couldn't afford to live at 4200 Mass Ave. Maybe in your next life you will aquire the intelligence to not live IN THE CLOSEST APARTMENT COMPLEX to AU. Oh, and my apologies for not going to Georgetown University -- I'm sure Bob Jones University had a lot more selective admissions when you went there in the mid-50s.

"Bob Jones University"??? ROFLMAO!! Hey. Spare us your hillbilly parents' Alma Mater, jhkjhk. I also offer my sincere sympathy that your aforementioned hillbilly parents couldn't afford to send you to Georgetown. Afford to live in Avalon, the armpit of DC, plebian? Hmmm, can't believe I'm getting involved with this, but... Okay. I did NOT go to AU. However, many close friends, as well as my husband did. I knew many, many AU students who were wastes of space, and poor excuses for human beings. These individuals had no sense of responsibility, and acted as if they never would. However, I think it is inappropriate to say that "THERE ARE NO SMART, HARDWORKING, "GOOD" American University students" as that is a blantant, stereotypical insult. The simple fact is that anyone who speaks in broad generalizations like that is either poorly informed, prejudicial, or lacking in common sense. Or possibly, all three. It's impossible to lump everyone in to one category, and write them off compeltely, and doing so only makes things worse. My suggestion? Get over yourself, and take some time to examine how you evalute others. You might have gone to Georgetown, or you might not have. But matriculation in a good school does NOT make you a good person. Try and remember that. The people I know from AU are not Georgetown rejects. The lot of them had no interest in Georgetown. They had reasons for choosing AU, and are now extremely successful in their chosen fields. I don't live in Avalon at Foxhall. I had the unfortunate experience of spending many nights in Park Bethesda while my now husband was a resident, and if the state of that building at the end of one year is any indication, I do feel sorry for any who DO live in Avalon at Foxhall. And I will make it a point not to live there in the future. Meanwhile, I encourage everyone to open there minds a little. STUDENTS: You don't need to get high every night of the week to enjoy college. It seriously violates everyone's rights around you. FORMER STUDENTS: School is over, no one cares where you went now. You are no better and no worse then anyone else. You've simply made different decisions. It's time to grow up. |

"AU students are NOTHING more than Georgetown rejects. They don't have the grades, class, or intelligence to get into Georgetown, so that act out constantly. You're the epitome of lower class college students..."
Curious. I graduated high school with a 3.98, and was a salutorian with all the honors there of. I scored a 1590 (out of 1600) on the SAT, a 36 on the ACT, recieved 5's in ten AP tests, 800 out of 800 on the five SAT II exams I took, was accepted to Dartmouth, Yale, Columbia, and the astounding Georgetown, and I happen to both go to the American University and live in Avalon at Foxhall. What's more, I chose AU because of its programs for internships and campus involvement, which are regularly rated higher than Georgetown or George Washington.
Yes, there are asinine twits at the American University who behave in a manner that's something less than civilized, but it begs mentioning that there are also a good deal more who are upstanding and downright pleasant to be around. Further, you seem to hold this idealize image of Hoyas...have you ever been in Georgetown after dark? Every time I'm there I feel as if my IQ is dropping by sheer force of osmosis. You want to speak of cretins? Try to walk unharassed down the street once they've been kicked out of the first bar of the night. And now, as proof that economic positioning and quality of character are different things, I hasten to point out that I know a great many good and respectible people from both GW and Georgetown.
Stereotypes are for those too inept to give specific instances of a behavior. Use your braggart's salary and buy a baby blanket, your insecurities are showing, AboveYouSocioeconomically.

"That's hilarious, because I just bought a house in Chevy Chase (DC side) for $804,500."
Just out of curiosity, how much is your $804,500 house worth now? I'm guessing if you bought it in 2006 it's probably worth a bit less now. I guess, like you said, people get what they deserve in life.
Sincerely,
"Low IQ, low class" AU alum with a taxable income higher than my parents' combined taxable income 2 years out of college.
