Don't believe a WORD of that crap review!!!! Complete and utter lies. I know for a FACT that Avalon office staff waits a couple of months and then *magically* a positive review appears on this board. LOL! Complete BS. Now, here's the real deal...and yes, Avalon scum management...real tenants/former tenants will ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH HERE. ARE YOU GETTING THIS, YOU MORONS'!'! Good. Potential renter, Avalon Bay is EXTREMELY worried about this board. Trust me on this -- rentals have dropped dramatically since the real tenants have been coming to this forum and telling it like it is. Here are the hard, cold facts about Avalon at Foxhall: (1) Building is scuzzy and is populated by lowlife AU students. Sorry, it's true. We're talking partying all hours of the night up and down the halls, in the elevators, and in the common areas. Noise, cigarette smoking, drinking, screaming at the top of their lungs in the parking lot (underneath residents' windows)...and what does management do' NOTHING. That's because mommy and daddy pay the little -------- rent a year in advance, (2) ventilation is NON-EXISTENT. You'd better be a smoker and/or love cigarette smoke, because you're going to get your neighbor's smoke as if you were smoking in your own apartment. It's just that bad, and Avalon has had myriad constant complaints from nonsmoking residents. They do NOTHING. (3) real fires and constant pulling of fire alarms by AU students. Again, you'd better love getting up at 2am in the middle of the week in the dead of winter to come outside and wait for the fire department to clear the building. Seriously. You'll be doing it every other week. (4) This building is convenient to NOTHING. Miles away (not walkable) to civilization, and miles away from the Metro. You'd better have a car or be willing to take the ghetto bus. (5) Did I mention the garage' Again, ghetto. AU students have caused several accidents from speeding. (6) A certain femmy scumbag in the office has all the integrity of Satan on a bad day. He is a piece of crap. He knows who he is and so does everyone else. Truly. You will grow to hate him like the rest of us have.
No one renews their lease here. It is literally the pits of hell. Don't be fooled by the 3-year-old cosmetic renovation (appliances and work is shoddy and are already falling apart). You will abhor your experience here. I know I (and many of my neighbors) have and cannot wait to get the hell out of here. Run. Run and don't look back.

Being that I wrote the review directly below this one, and am actually a resident at Avalon at Foxhall, I can say this is complete crap. Like I mentioned, I live on a dog floor and have never had a problem with loud AU students, or cigarette smoke in my apartment. The fire alarm went off once! Once in a year is too much if you ask me, but seriously stop lying to people. I'm sick of coming on this site to try and find honest reviews and people like you screw it up for everyone. The elevators are always clean, the building is well maitained. And nothing in my apartment fell apart. Yes we had some problems, but they were minor and never hard to fix. But guess what people, when you rent, your going to have problems! It's part of the experience. And I don't know about other residents but I enjoyed the renovations. The truth is, this place is not perfect. Don't move here expecting it to be all you ever dreamed of. But I lived here for a year, really like it, and would have renewed my lease if they didn't try to raise my rent by $300. Which I can say, is the one terrible thing about this place - they aren't fair about raising your rent. So expect a large rent increase. |

BULLS H I T. The TRUTH IS that you're a LEASING AGENT. Potential renter, disregard this lying piece of dung known as "tcallquest." This building is a ghetto for American University students, filled with scummy AU students. There are REAL FIRES here. Every last one of these negative reviews is TRUE. Believe it.

I looked at this building in 2003 and was shown the new appliances going in, told about the smoking by AU students and about AU students. It was explained to me that mgmt. had reprimanded the AU students and none of this would happen again. Also, that mgmt. was thinking of NOT renting to AU students in the future because of the smoking (and pitching of cigarette butts off of balconies), partying and pulling of the fire alarms. Here it is practically 2007, I am looking for an apartment again, I'm checking out locales, AND THE SAME THINGS ARE STILL GOING ON AT FOXHALL!!! Clearly, this is not the place to call ones home until the AU student problem is seriously addressed. D. Green Washington, DC |

I am considering a move to Foxhall and was interested in the comments on this website. I am not a stupid woman and am pretty confident that the majority of vicious comments here were written by the same immature individal with a hell bent grudge against the management and AU. Many of the comments use the exact same foul language and expressions. The same thing appears to be happening as well in the reviews for other apartment buildings posted here. Thankfully, any sane, intelligent and mature person will be able to see through the ranting and raving - because that's exacty what it is. Not constructive criticism, but rabid, obscene ranting. Grow up!

The AU student problem... Curious, as I've been living here for a year now and I, an American University junior, have witnessed more problems with the non-students than the students. Yes, SOME students can be loud and crass at times, but apparently you've never lived near a college campus if you stand so horrified by the behavior of college students. I live in a two bedroom with three other students and we've only ever had one complaint against us, when the DirecTV dish was being installed on our balcony because the Comcast service (cable and internet) are unreliable here. The biggest problem I've witnessed here is with a man on the first floor front who runs a rather questionable photography studio out of his apartment. The flash from his camera and occasional cries to spread the labia can become rather a nuisance when one's trying to sleep for a final the next day. In fact, all of the real nuisances I've witness here have been from the 25-35 population, the 'young professionals' if you will, and not the college students.
