I've been a resident for several years, and I have definitely noticed a decline in the attentiveness of the resident management in terms of repairs, as well as the fact that I see them around the building less and less. I have had success in calling the property management company, but it should not go to that level when my rent is four figures a month.
The escalating rents aren't exactly warranted, given that the kitchens are antiquated (no disposal or dishwasher) and tiny (I can't open my refrigerator door all the way). The apartments are small, so if you're a homebody who wants to entertain, it may not be a good fit for you.
That said, the 17th & Mass location is outstanding. I often say my rent is 10% apartment, 90% location. If you don't have a car, and, to put it bluntly, don't care AT ALL about amenities, it's a great place to live. Other than that, I'm not sure how highly I'd recommend the place.
