Minor problems, but a great place to live

I lived here for two years and would definitely recommend this building. It's true that there are some minor problems: the resident manager often wasn't at the front desk to give out packages and the laundry machines were a disaster.
However, this place is a great price for the location. The units are very pretty (though the view is quite bad--just the parking lot--from a lot of the units). The building seems quite safe.
I never had problems with mice, noisy neighbors, the management company (William C SMith & Co was actually quite good), or maintenance. I rarely had maintenance issues and when I did they were resolved in a very timely fashion.
Every place has little problems but the problems here were certainly not big enough to keep me from having an overall very positive couple of years.

I wouldn't say minor problems. Yes, there are problems in all properties but the culmination of "problems" at the Bay State is becoming unacceptable. If you haven't seen mice yet...don't look for the mice; just look for the droppings. They come and go but they are definitely all over the apartment. Maintenance is not a problem; but the management is and that is the most worriesome. There is a tremendous lack of attention and care to the property itself and the tenants. Trust me; I've lived here for much longer and it used to be a lot better.

I lived at the Baystate for 2 years and also had problems with mice and roaches! I agree the upper management doesn't care. It could be a great place to live as it's in a great location, but they need to address some of these problems. Alicia, the manager was never around to pick up packages or to deal with other issues. She is a kind person, but it's very difficult communicating with her because she is not fluent in English. For the amount they charge in rent it's ridiculous to have to deal with incompetent staff, broken common amenities, and mice/roach infestations.
