Avoid if you are over 18

I have lived at The Berkshire for 5 years, and I will be moving out as soon as possible.
About a year ago, the building was converted to a dormitory for students from American University and a new management company took over. Since that time, the building has rapidly deteriorated. The new staff is not only completely useless; they are incompetent, rude and unresponsive. They are trained to deal with 18-year-old college students and not working adult professionals. Among the many problems since the new management took over include sporadic water and lighting in the building, chipped paint, stained carpets, filthy trash rooms overflowing with empty beer bottles and cigarette butts from the college parties, work scheduled but never performed, maintenance requests routinely ignored, (and phone calls to the business office never returned) and shoddy workmanship. The new management company also has a zest for ticketing and towing cars, and they will not provide any information as to the whereabouts of the towed vehicle or a reason why it was towed.
For many years The Berkshire was a wonderful building and a great place to live. Sadly, those days are over, except for the 18 year olds. I highly recommend anyone over 18 avoid The Berkshire.
