I have to say I have quite enjoyed my stay here at the Berks. I also do not believe that the Berks deserve such a low rating, but that depends on what kind of standard one is looking at. For a university student, this is certainly a great place to stay esp because it is so close to AU and a busline.

There is noise that one has to deal with at times, but that just gave me a feeling I'm among my own people, as opposed to in a pish posh place where there is no noise at all.

Secondly, I have not had a roach problem either. I believe the roach problem is a matter of how clean you keep your apt, plus maybe if you live on the lower levels, that may be more of a problem, but I haven't encountered any roaches. Sometimes there were bugs in my room that somehow managed to fly through the insect shield.

The staff is friendly and all my problems (Granted, I only had to deal with one issue) were fixed right away & in an orderly way.

The Berks is generally a perfect place for a (AU) student, I especially found the grocery store downstairs to be very convenient, however it's more expensive than your average Supermarket.
