Location is the apartments best draw, right across the street from the metro. The Woodley Park neighborhood is great, safe with plenty of places to go for running/walking. A few decent restaurants across the street, with a CVS and small grocery market. A quick walk across the bridge to Adams Morgan for a Safeway, other restaurants, and plenty of bars.
The apartments themselves are pretty nice. What sold me was the large windows, so you get a lot of sunlight. Some of the apartments have some decent views out the windows, though others look out at the hotel loading dock or other buildings. Parquet floors which are okay, but not always in the best shape. All of the fixtures in my bathroom and kitchen are new. Living in a studio, and it has a few more square feet than other places I looked at. A small walk-through closet and two other closets were enough for me when I moved in, but as I start to get other stuff they aren't quite adequate.
The rent is expensive, but for the neighborhood it's one of the cheapest places around. When I was looking at apartments, I found that most places near a Metro stop in a nice neighborhood were around the same price.
I only had one maintenance issue while I was here. I told them in the morning and it was fixed before I got home from work. The front desk staff is somewhat hit or miss. Some are fantastic and some are of no help at all. I wasn't left with a very good impression of the building managers, but I barely ever had to deal with them so that wasn't an issue.
The biggest negative about this place is the noise. You are at the mercy of your neighbors at times. Getting woken up at 3am multiple times by my neighbors having sex or arguing was not pleasant. Also, the noise right outside is loud. If you are moving in, try to get an apartment on the side facing Calvert St. The side facing the hotel has so many large buses going up the hill to the hotel that you cannot keep your windows open because of the noise. Even worse, some of the apartments face the hotels loading dock, which I imagine is even louder than the buses. If I fall asleep with the window open while it's quiet, I will get woken up shortly after when a bus goes up the hill. If you enjoy getting some fresh air in your apartment, this will get on your nerves really quickly.
Luckily it's DC and the number of months you can actually have your window open is limited due to weather. I'm not moving out because of the noise, but as I got to my new building that was quiet, I realized how much this bothered me when I was at Calvert House.
Overall, I didn't have any problems with the building outside of the noise. I moved out because I needed a larger apartment. If I were trying to move into Calvert House again, I'd definitely work on getting something not facing the hotel. In this regard, I'd say only about one quarter of the rooms are quiet.

Could you please tell where did you find a quiet building as I have trouble to find one.
Tnank you,
