I've been living in captial park plaza for a year now. while the elevators have been broken for about 6 months, the security gates don't always work, and there are some scary tenants that live here, my actual apartment is fabulous! I haven't been able to find another studio apartment this large for this price anywhere in the city that is so close to downtown. my balcony is huge. closet space is amazing! i'm close to three metro stops. you're a 15 minute walk away from the national mall. plus for the most part it's pretty quiet. i've never really been bothered by people living beside me or below me. the view from my apartment is actually very nice. and the neighborhood here isn't really that bad. it's typical dc - on one block you have a public housing project and the next block you have beautiful town houses and rich people. the neighborhood is very mixed, which i like. and if you like to go out at night, the nightlife here isn't very poppin, HOWEVER Nation, Zanzibar, H20, Cantina Marina, Wet, Nexxus Gold Club, and Lime Club are all nearby or within walkin distance. Plus there is the waterfront and the fresh seafood market and phillips all within 10 minutes walking. another convenient thing is that you're right around the corner from 295 and 395 - easy access in and out of the city for yourself and visitors from out of town.

overall, it's not the best place to live, but it's not as horrible as other people make it sound. the price for this location and size apartment is really very good. check it out and see for yourself.
