Ok, it ain't the Ritz. But I have lived here for three years, and haven't had all the problems that others are complaining about. (I live at 201 I) and yes, there used to be a roach problem. I haven't seen one in two years. Yes the elevators aren't that clean. I don't live in an elevator, and clean elevators aren't worth $200/month to me.
My apartment is functional, usually quiet (the street noise is bad on weekends) and cheap for DC.
if you are used to wealthy, homogenous suburbs, you might not want to live here. if you want to live in a neighborhood with a huge variance in people, it's a good place.
