Look to Yourselves

I have lived here for almost 12 years, and have seen the place go steadily downhill ... but, what I'm finding is that's it's not so much management as the tenants themselves. No one seems to care about anything! I just came from the laundry room, where I found numerous fabric softener sheets all over the floor (not an unusual occurrence), not to mention lint collections! What is wrong with the people who live here' Why can't they pick up after themselves' The mail room is a disgrace, as well, since tenants think nothing of throwing unwanted mail all over the floor. There are two trash cans available, but it doesn't matter, since the floor looks like as good a place as any to toss unwanted flyers, and the like. And, then, there are the trash rooms! There are 3 (count 'em) receptacles: one for recyclable bottles/plastics; one for paper recyclables; and then the trash chute itself. Doesn't matter! People throw trash into both recycling bins, rather than down the chute. The floor is a handy place, too! And, even for those who do recycle bottles, cans, etc., few bother to rinse out said bottles and cans, so the containers have food/condiment/liquid remnants in them, and make the place smell bad! I've seen bottles left on the elevator, trash strewn everywhere, and no one cares! Management bears responsibility for some things, but tenants should be more responsible for being considerate of others, and so many of them are not! I feel as though I'm living in a human (or, more accurately, INhuman) sty here because of the PEOPLE PIGS!!!! I've never seen so many inconsiderate people congregated in one place in my life! Were it not for the tenants' lack of responsibility, this would be a nice place to live! Maintenance has always been prompt and efficient! You can't beat the rent (hellooooooo! look around this site, and you will see rent increases of $300 per month -- my rent was raised just $60 during the last increase)! It's noisy, to be sure! This is like living in a siren corridor -- fire trucks, ambulances, police cars -- day and night! And why the fire trucks have to blow their horns in addition to the sirens is beyond me! I heard you the first time with the sirens!!! Anyway, for the most part, I love living here (were it not for some of the inconsiderate tenants ... who also do not hold doors for anyone ... walk right through and let the door hit you in the face, even while you are loaded down with bags, packages)! I'm thankful for the 24-hour desk/package-receiving service, which so many other places do not have! As a last thought, I do think management needs to rethink its having dispensed with its cleaning crew. I understand that there is now only ONE person who takes care of cleaning the entire building, which is absurd! The brass on the elevators used to be polished, but no more. I do think that the Carillon House needs to rehire its cleaning crew but, more importantly, I think the tenants bear a responsibility for keeping the building clean (which they do not do)!
