I share many other residents' concern that this place is going downhill fast. I've been here for 5 years and I have seen it go worse and worse in many aspects.
Current management (as of 1/2007) is horrible. Zero respect to the needs of residents, they will treat you with borderline rudeness and don't want to be bothered with anything. I recently received a rent increase notice of more than 20%. When confronted, management just said that this is market price (which may be the case) based on their (management's) research.
It may be true that the luxury condos next door may raise the profile of the area, but this apartment building is poorly maintained, insecure, noisy, and generally unwelcoming.
The location is great - very close to Chinatown, Verizon Center, Capitol Hill, etc. At night, there is a lot of prostitutes and occasionally I see broken car windows of cars parked in the streets around the building. I would park my car in the garage.
