Terrible

Although the apartments are pretty and the building is in a nice location, the Chesapeake is a bad, bad joke. The management office staff are dishonest, disrespectful, and unresponsive. They do make an effort to remember your name/apt number, but that is only so they can pretend to care/try to make you feel bad for complaining about problems. They have the gall to insinuate that residents are wrong for asserting their rights (such as: life without rodents, kitchens that don't smell like natural gas, and doors that aren't broken), and can speak in an extremely unprofessional and rude way when busy/stressed.

I have had a serious rodent/bug infestation problem for several months, with limited, unsuccessful -- and begrudging, when finally provided -- assistance. Customer service is clearly not their priority.... nor are safety or health. (Apparently, bagel brunches are. So, if a free bagel once a month is appealing to you, read no further.) The fire alarm is very quiet, and staff are not available during alarm situations. The security guard situation is appalling - with guards (who are asleep when they are on the job) working the most ridiculous hours (2pm-midnight'). The heating system is terrible - there is no individual control, and apartments can get extremely hot - requests to fix it are, of course, not responded to nicely.

I must say, the maintenance staff are nice people, and - if you go through them directly without wasting your time with management - quick and at least somewhat helpful.

Overall - don't be swayed by the relatively lower prices (as compared to neighbors), ample street parking, and gym -- IT IS NOT WORTH IT! This building is nothing but a headache (literally, gas leaks are dangerous).
