Great bet for Foggy Bottom

After living in various places in Foggy Bottom for the better part of 6 years, I can safely say that the Claridge House is one of the nicest options. With its 24-hour front desk (they take deliveries, admit visitors, etc.), rooftop pool (completely rebuilt in Summer 2003), and fantastic location (three minutes from the Metro, and five minutes walk to Georgetown), this is a tough place to beat.
Of course, rents depend on individual landlords, but prices seem to be in line with the rest of the area. I see that others have commented on bug problems, but I've been in my apartment 2 years now (8th floor) and have not seen one roach. Maybe the trick is to be cleaner than your neighbors!
It is true that there are a lot of undergrads in the Claridge House, and some parts of the buildings can seem dorm-like. Hopefully with all of the new dorms going up, GW will be able to keep more of its students in the residence halls in the future. But most of the folks who live around me are either young professionals or law or medical students, and I've had very few problems with noise.
While it's not going to win any design awards, the interior of the building is well kept, and the staff have generally been competent and responsive.
