Balanced overview of the Cloisters

- The Cloisters is in NE DC, which in general is not a very pleasant are in which to live. It is not a safe area, with a high level of violent crime. The Cloisters is not particularly safe, but does have a guard at night.

- Rent is high for what you get.

- If you lead anything like a normal human existence, you will most likely find that the noise and disorder from the other tenants will disturb you. We had trouble with our neighbors for two years. People from adjacent apartments complained about them regularly, but the management did little or nothing about it.

- The management is like nothing I have ever experienced in my life. When something goes wrong in your apartment, you put in a "work order" for it to be fixed. With no exaggeration, we often called a dozen or more times and waited several months before important repairs were made. Several times I had to call the Horning Brothers directly in order to get action taken.

- Yes, we had roaches and mice. Other apartments had rats.

- I have lived in apartment complexes for the past 15 years, and I have never been as unhappy as I was at the Cloisters. It was without question the worst living experience of my life. You would be extremely unwise to move here.
