Cost and space reasonable, Management and Maintenance absolutely HORRIBLE

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008
Let's start with few pluses. The parking situation is pretty decent especially for living in the city so I don't have any major complaints there. Most the residents seemed to be pretty respectable people but come Fall when the Catholic students move in, it gets slightly obnoxious (and parking becomes increasingly scarce). The space you live in isn't pretty reasonable in size and cleanliness. Its pretty standard fare as far as apartments go.
Now for the hate parade: You might as well forget they even have maintenance at all because they'll just about never get off their ass to do anything. I can't say for certain that that's the fault of maintenance themselves or the people at the leasing office taking the maintenance requests but don't be a bit surprised if it takes (literally) a year or more for them to get around to fixing something (even if that something is very critical, like the lock to your door). And pray to God that no maintenance emergencies occur after 6pm when the leasing office closes because despite the fact that they have an "emergency maintenance number" and you're locked out of your building because they decided to change the door entry system without having enough keys to give out to all the residents, you might as well just assume you're sleeping in a cardboard box that night. Let me elaborate...
All the buildings are equipped with a keyless fob entry system. Its a little electronic gizmo you scan at the door and it unlocks the door to the building (to get into your apartment itself you still use a regular key). The call box on the fob system (so guests can get buzzed in) doesn't work at all (at least not in building F). So because of the high number of complaints (mind you, this is probably 6 or 7 months after the thing had been installed) they finally got around to getting the contractor out to replace the system. They decide to give the residents about 2 days notice to get down to rental office to turn in your old fobs and get the new ones. That might sound like a decent amount of time except for people who work hours that don't allow you to be there between 9am-6pm (leasing office hours). You would of course think that maybe you could send a friend or relative down on your behalf while you are away at work but apparently that's "against policy." So very long story short: they swap out the fob system but don't have enough keys to distribute to everyone so both my roommate and I were SOL. For two days we were locked out of our building and were only able to get back in when someone who was fortunate enough to get a fob let us in. We called multiple times over these two days and were told repeatedly that more fobs wouldn't be in for a few days. So after explaining to them that we were unable to get into our building because their dumbasses didn't have enough fobs, they said they'd send their [imaginary] maintenance crew out to do something about it. Naturally, they did nothing about it. So on day 3 of our lockout, my roommate was able to get ahold of the leasing office (the same woman mind you who told us that they ran out of fobs and it would be a few more days) and she tells us that, "no, no, no. we have your fobs here for you." They of course disavow any knowledge of ever saying anything to the contrary and try to make US look dumb. Thanks. Dicks.
Now if you got this far into the story I applaud you. I can't stress enough that this type of activity is NOT an isolated incident. There have been MULTIPLE times that my dealing with the leasing office have gone this way and not with just 1 person but just about everyone who works there. They only person who did anything there (God bless you Michael, you were a saint!) has unfortunately long since left the Cloisters for [presumably] much greener pastures. "Sucks balls" would the ultimate understatement when describing the people who work at the Cloisters leasing office.
I would never, EVER, recommend you live here. Despite many of the benefits I explained in the first paragraph of this rant, it is not worth all the headaches attached to it. Sorry Cloisters. Epic fail.
