Check to make sure you're new apartment has already gone through the construction. Word is it's maddening and lasts at least a month. All sorts of people are coming in and out of the unlocked apartment from 8:30 in the morning till 4:30 in the afternoon. Some people report property stolen.

The Dorchester is a great place to live, but beware the construction!

Too bad you didn't mention that there will be ANOTHER, MORE INVASIVE PROJECT after Borger Mgmt. finishes the current HVAC installation. The company plans to renovate the apt. kitchens with "new" cabinetry and fixtures. At least one interior wall will be partially or fully knocked down. There is some indication in management's plans that the company will temporarily remove or evict tenants to carry out this kitchen renovation plan. Even if you get to stay in your place while they work on the kitchen, you'll be miserable. Oh, and the owners of the building want to build new apartments on the parking lot as well! They've already submitted plans to the city and claim that they don't have to undergo the normal zoning permit review process. Imagine moving in, surviving the kitchen re-do hell...and then enjoying the pounding, banging and yelling of a major construction project outside your window. That'll take at least 1.5 years to finish. Dear reader, forget the Dorchester. This place is in for several years of severely sub-standard living. The relatively large apts. here just aren't worth the hassle.

The "Anonymous" poster who I am responding to must be a member of the so-called "Dorchester Tenants Association." Readers beware, this organization exists simply to hear itself talk and make the lives of Borger Management, and the Dorchester Residents miserable! They are the only tenants organization on earth that actually OPPOSES making our living conditions nicer. They continuously put flyers under our doors and in our mailboxes, thereby contributing to deforestation. It seems they don't have jobs, since all they do is pester us about the silliest minutiae regarding the beautiful renovations to our apartments. Instead of engaging constructivey with management, they try and stonewall (unsuccessfully) every attempt to restore the Dorchester to its former glory, when a certain John Fitzgerald Kennedy, yes, that John Fitzgerald Kennedy, lived here. They tried to stop Harris Teeter from coming into the neighborhood and failed. They fail at everything. And they have the infernal gall to try and impugn the character of the Honorable G. Thomas Borger, of Borger Management, who gives us the honor, nay, the pleasure of living in the Dorchester. Shame on you Anonymous DTA Member, SHAME ON YOU!

Concurring with the Second Anonymous Posting. I concur with the brother or sister who invokes President Kennedy in his opinion. I, however, write separately to make an additional point. Clearly, the first poster is an angry person who does not enjoy living, as I do, in the Dorchestor. To that person I say, move out once your lease expires. Borger Management does not force you to live here. If you despise their efforts to improve the apartments and question whether they will put in "cabinetry and fixtures" that are "new" (as if they'd be old) why do you still live here. Further, can you even back up your accusations that management's plans include evicting tenants for the construction projects?

How much is Borger paying the "concurring brother" who posted twice on 3/27/08? You wrote "To that person I say, move out once your lease expires. Borger Management does not force you to live here." I'm surrounded by boxes now, clown, and I say AMF to you and other Borger employees. Tenants are posting to this site to warn others about the Dorchester. Please learn how to spell the name of this place. All your "concurring" reviews misspell the name, bro, and that's a dead giveaway. JFK lived here over 65 years ago. If he were still alive he wouldn't let his dog live here.

Hello, can the original person posting this review please reconsider his/her rating of the place. It was given "4 out of 5" rating for recommending this place. I didn't think that was his/her original intent.
