close to campus, but expensive...

I lived in the Elise for 3 years while attending GW. The location can't be beat-- right across from the metro, near Safeway/Trader Joes, and of course next to GW.
My biggest problem is that the rent kept increasing. If you sign a one-year lease, they will increase the rent by 5-10% after that term expires. It was affordable when I started, but I don't think I could afford to live there anymore on my budget.
The manager Wendy is very nice. She's friendly and tries to help everyone solve any issues with their apartment. For example, I had various leaky faucets, sinks, and toilets fixed within a few days at the most. I don't understand why people in the other reviews had issues with the manager-- she always took care of problems pretty fast and is a great person to chat with.
The apartments themselves are pretty standard. They're clean (no insects), reasonably large, and the concrete floors keep the noise down. Occasionally, there is a party (a lot of undergrads in the building), but this wasn't a very common problem. I can't remember hearing my upstairs neighbor through the ceiling either.
Bottom line: if you can afford it, this is a good place to live.
