Absolutely Wonderful Apartments!

Lucky for me (and you, if you're looking to rent here!), there's a new leasing agent, so I have had nothing but wonderful experiences dealing with everyone and everything with this building!
The rent is certainly not cheap, but for a little bit more money (read: less than $100 more than other similar buildings I was looking at) than most other older buildings in NW, you get wonderful things like central air, gorgeous wood floors, and a dishwasher and separate dining room in the studios! The kitchens and bathrooms were renovated recently, and are totally amazing! Get an apartment with a balcony on the side of the building farthest from 16th Street if you can, because the views of Rock Creek Park are amazing, and you can barely hear the noise of the busy street!
The whole building is GORGEOUS (visitors and delivery people walk into the lobby and go "Wow!"), and super quiet! The gym is small, but I've never had trouble getting a machine. You need a door code to get into both the gym and the laundry room, which makes them extra safe.
I've been here about 4 months and I have yet to see a bug!
Some people whine about the neighborhood, but I'm a single woman and I have never felt any less safe than I have in any other part of the District. The neighborhood is extremely diverse and exciting, and I really love it! (and being a short walk to the Columbia Heights metro and the new Target certainly doesn't hurt!)
Really, the only downside of the building is the parking situation. There are a few spots behind the building, but they're always full and you have to get on a waiting list for a spot to open up. The parking isn't terribly secure because it's right along the alley, but I haven't had a problem yet (though I am super careful about taking anything of value out of my car and I take the faceplate off my stereo and such). And street parking in the neighborhood is a *nightmare*. But you totally don't need a car to live here--you can walk to the metro, Target, three grocery stores, Adams Morgan and U Street, plus a ton of buses run nearby!
Overall, I can't recommend this building enough! Live here if you can! :-)
