I wonder if the person writing ther last review actually lives in the building. At the begining of this month there was a electrical fire in the building. While most of the damage was in the basement, the fire has diplaced myself and everyone else living in the building. We originally were going to be able to move back in right away, then they said a week, then they said several weeks, and now they are saying they are working around the clock to get electricity and back on in the individual apartments so we can move back in. The fire dept. understandably closed the building for safety reasons while they do needed electrical work. I don't mind the building being closed, but Empire Apartments and the Cafritz company have not been helpful at all and don't expect them to when something like this happens. I called the number they gave us to call on Tuesday to ask a simple question, when are we going to move back' However, it is Sunday and I have yet to recieve a call back. In other respects I have enjoyed my apartment ( a good price in Foggy Bottom)however, my lease is up in July and needless to say I am looking around for something better. And since I can't actually stay in my apartment I am looking to move right away so I don't have to stay with friends until they finish the needed repairs.
