The Flats are deceptive. Stunning lobby, great gym, pool and bbq pits. Then, the layers start to peel off - literally, and you're left with a stinky onion.
I agree with everyone on here who says the management is too nosey. I've never had more prying into my business by a staff. They stop my guests at the lobby and repeatedly ask them who they are, then feel the need to call me on my mobile while my friends are waiting downstairs being insulted, etc.
The walls are thin and you can hear everything. Maintenence is spotty (sometimes like lightening, sometimes non-existent). There is no rooftop (unlike all the other apartments in the neighborhood - Lauren, Apolline, etc.), the pool is ridiculously small and shallow - and inexplicably surrounded by a 15-foot high iron fence like it's San Quentin or something, and none of the grills work.
Also - three of the four elevators just went out this summer, leading to wait times of up to 15 minutes to get out of your own building on to the street. Seriously, 15 minutes for the one shared elevator (that was always PACKED with people).
This place is filled with rich college kids whose parents want them locked up in a prison with amenities. Don't stay here if you're an adult or want to be treated like one.

I live in the building and have my fair share of complaints, but this is really too harsh. I'd rather have an inquisitive front desk than a security guard busy watching his sitcoms, like I see at most of my friends' buildings. I do agree about the elevators though, totally unacceptable. As for the fence around the pool, and the closed gate when the life guard is off duty, it's the law.
