I lived in the Gables Woodley Park for three years and was very happy with the building. It was extremely safe and it was great to have one hotel across the street and another one next door. This made the area more lively, safe (as people were always around) and taxi-cab friendly. I thought the gym was fine and the computer room was nice with fast internet service, printer, and fax. I was reading reviews that said the school next door was bothersome. I did not find this bothersome at all, but I didn't have an apartment facing the street. Again, I think having a school next door adds to safety, which in DC, is very important. I thought the management and front desk staff were fantastic and friendly. I also liked that the building housed several young professionals and was pet friendly, it made it a very cordial atmosphere.
