This place is in a great location, and is cheaper than other buildings in the area. But there are some drawbacks to the affordability- the A/C is the chief problem. The central air units cannot cool the upper floor apartments below 80 degrees in the summer. It can get pretty unbearable. Also, the building is very, very old and maintenance frequently has to turn off the water (which shuts off the A/C) or elevators for repairs. The common areas are kept in good condition and are cleaned daily. They have been consistent with repairs in my apartment. The fixtures, windows, etc. are very old and often break. The staff is nice and helpful and the building is safe. I haven't had any problems with noise and once had bugs but learned my lesson and clean up more now. The building has free extermination as well. One thing to watch out for- the rent is increased every six months after your lease expires. Most people move out at that point. But it's very affordable and in the heart of Dupont/ Adams Morgan.
